Fishing in Mont Tremblant this Summer

Fishing in Mont Tremblant this Summer

The village of Mont Tremblant gives new and experienced fishermen close access to many of the prime fishing lakes, rivers, and streams in the region. The certified fishing guides promise fly fishers, family fishers, and amateur fishers a great day of unforgettable fishing experiences.

Those interested in the skillful art of flying fishing are not alone. They can hire highly experienced, certified fishing guides, who will not only take them to the best lakes, streams, and rivers, but also show them the most effective techniques in using light tackle to cast their lines across the waters to haul in the biggest fish. Local experts, practicing catch and release, show some of the best places to fish on Lake Tremblant. Many opportunities exist to catch a huge haul of fish during the salmon, muskie, pike, brass, and lake trout fishing seasons. Besides fishing, participants also enjoy the huge outdoors, discovering the beauty of the lake and the joy of swimming in it.

Those even more serious about their fly fishing lessons can learn more about light tackle and fly fishing through some structured instructional programs.

One such program to assist the amateur fly fisher to improve his or her skills is called First Fly Cast clinic. Here basic fly casting techniques are taught, first on dry land then on the water. This targeted program instructs those wishing to progress from amateurs to experts.

Another program is called the Discovery Clinic. It teaches even the most inexperienced to fish confidently within only a few hours. Basic fly casting techniques for both still water and river conditions are taught. Instructions include learning the paces of the basic cast, learning the best equipment to select for individual fishing styles, learning how to tie essential knots, and learning how to make the right fly selection. Once the theory is understood, the instructors then take their students to fish on the Diable River. Now theory can be transformed into actual experience to master the art of fly fishing.

Less intense, but as enjoyable as Discovery Clinic, is Family Discovery.
In this instructional program, designed, as the name implies, for families, participants walk along a trail and are taught how to find fishing ponds. Once a pond is found, participants learn how to tie a fly and how to catch rainbow trout using basic fly cast or light tackle techniques.

However, even experienced anglers like to get even better at their craft, and for them there are special river wading excursions. In this educational and coaching program, certified guides lead the anglers to the best fishing spots in the Diable River. Here they practice numerous techniques, from light tackle to learning how to fish with dry flies, weighted nymphs, streamers, and sink-tips. Once these techniques are mastered, the students can expect to haul in many feisty trout, in particular the brown and brook trout variety.

Another program for experienced fly fishers is the Tremblant Pro Fishing clinic. In this one, participants get up early in the morning and are taught sport fishing techniques to land lake trout, bass, muskie, and salmon.

Then for both amateur and experienced anglers alike, there is an opportunity to fish for rainbow trout and brook trout from aboard a fishing boat. Fishing on small headwater lakes and wading streams makes this a full-day adventure. Both fly fishers and those accustomed to light tackle enjoy these excursions into the backcountry. Lunch is usually included as part of this package.

Those interested in learning how to fish or those who would like to improve their fishing skills have many opportunities to learn at the lakes, rivers, and streams near the beautiful village of Mont-Tremblant.
