Tremblant Blues Festival this Summer

Tremblant Blues Festival this Summer

The lineup for this year’s upcoming Tremblant International Blues Festival has been revealed. According to spokesman Zachary Richard, the ten day festival will run from July 9 to 18 with appearances by famous musicians from around the world, providing more than a week’s worth of outdoor shows and concerts.

Now in its 17th year, this version of Tremblant will feature a large number of Louisiana’s musical scions, including Richard himself. Last year’s committee favorite Matt Andersen will be returning to Tremblant once again, and he is joined by fellow notables Tommy Castro, Matt Schofield, Javina Magness, Bernard Adamus and Bobby Bazini. The Great White North is equally well represented; Quebecers Jimmy James, Paul Deslauriers, Dawn Tyler Watson, Carl Tremblay and Jim Zeller are all scheduled to take the stage at Tremblant.

Tremblant festival-goers can look forward to the venue’s lovely natural setting, where they can enjoy the Blues in the invigorating mountain air on the shores of beautiful Lac Tremblant. During cocktail hour every day from July 12 to 16, a small intimate concert will be held atop the Laurentian Mountains’ highest summit.

Big Names for Tremblant 2010

Kenny Wayne Shepherd
This 33 year old axman is one of Tremblant’s main headliners this year. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, he has opened for acts as huge as the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan and even has his own signature Fender Stratocaster model. His twenty year career shows no sign of slowing with a new album being released in 2010, and he’s sure to provide a crowd-pleasing show at this year’s Tremblant festival.

Zachary Richard
The official spokesman for Tremblant 2010 has an impressive 18 albums to his credit, most recently 2009′s “Last Kiss.” His deep Louisiana roots are plainly seen when he records in both French and English, melding the diverse musical influences of his native Cajun Country.

Tommy Castro
It’s his first time performing at Tremblant, and this 55 year old Californian guitarist will be bringing some serious credentials with him. His most recent album, “Hard Believer”, has been showing on the Billboard charts for 30 weeks, and at May’s Blues Music Awards in Memphis he took home a total of four awards, including the prizes for “Band of the Year” and “B.B. King Entertainer of the Year.”

Tab Benoit
This Zydeco dynamo is one of Louisiana’s favorite sons. Born in Baton Rouge, he sings, he writes and he plays the guitar with a down-home swampy grit that could only come from bayou country. He’s been playing with heavyweights like Willie Nelson and Junior Wells and fusing country, blues and cajun music together for 15 solid albums; in 2006, his album, “Brother to the Blues” garnered a Grammy nomination.

Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars
Tab Benoit has been fighting for the survival of the wetlands of his Louisiana home for quite some time. He serves as spokesman and a major player for the Voice of the Wetlands project, whose members will take the stage at Tremblant this year. It’s sure to be a don’t-miss event, with talented Louisiana artists like Anders Osborne, Cyril Neville, Waylon Thibodeaux, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and Jumpin’ Johnny Sansone set to make an appearance.

L’aire du Blues
Back by popular demand, L’aire du Blues is a small venue that allows a more personal blues experience. It’s devoted to the history and culture of the blues and holds the festival’s official boutique where visitors can find all the souvenirs, gear and clothing they need to commemorate their visit to Tremblant. Fans can meet artists here, listen to their intimate performances and engage them in discussions regarding the musicians’ inspirations and personal ideals.
